A new development on Lake Road in Rotorua has created demand for around 20 staff during construction. This development is being hailed as an example of the growth opportunities expected under the proposed District Plan. 106 to 108 Lake Road is being redeveloped to allow Big Save Furniture to expand.
Big Save Furniture has been facing growth unable to be contained by their smaller premisis, according to managing director Tom McKimm. “It will be a much better environment and look a lot more professional,” he told the Rotorua Daily Post. The development is expected to see the floor size almost double and two new staff members come on board. The NZ Herald commented,
“He said they looked at expanding the current Fairy Springs Rd site, but were excited about the move closer to town. Mr McKimm said Fairy Springs Rd had become quite a commercial zone and the Lake Rd site offered better opportunities with store front exposure.”
The site previously had a host of flats and a professional consultancy firm.
